Ever wondered where you can get of copy of your credit report or how pulling your credit impacts your credit score? Sure you have! Which is great because we have the answers.
There are 3 major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and Transunion. There are hundreds of places online for you to buy a copy of your credit report, including the websites for the credit bureaus. But, there is only place where you can get a copy of all 3 reports for FREE annually and that is www.annualcreditreport.com. (Note: you have 3 credit reports, 1 for each credit bureau).
When you buy a report, make sure you are not signing up for a credit monitoring subscription. Credit monitoring doesn’t fix your credit or improve your credit, it’s just a tool to help you review your credit report more often. You can monitor your Transunion credit report for FREE at www.creditkarma.com.
Now, that you know where to get a credit report, what happens when you do? Well, nothing. You can review your credit as much as you want without impacting your credit score. What hurts your credit score is called a “hard pull” and that happens when you apply for credit. So when you open a credit card, apply for a car loan or a mortgage- those are all hard pulls. The more you have, the more of an impact it has on your credit score.
So go out there, review your credit report, and have fun!
